OK, it seems I am the first to pull the trigger on this tour.

"a bit about yourself" - well, I'm a 43 year old father of two teenagers, who lives in Hertfordshire, UK, after moving here 4 years ago from South Africa. I work in London, doing mining/finance-type stuff. I live for mountain biking, but am a bit scared of the "4 out of 5" level of fitness necessary for this trip. (I'll get in shape come next July though). Most of my biking so far is local and in Wales where there is a good selection of all-weather trails and trail centres.

The biggest thing on my mind at the moment is how to get my bike across to Fernie for the tour without it getting damaged. Lots of research so far, but I haven't hit an ideal solution yet... I want to use a bag, but cannot find a decent one. The one advertised by Sacred Rides would cost me a fortune to get shipped here to the UK. Anyway, I would welcome a discussion on this from people in a similar predicament.
